It is advisable that a flashing beacon should be fitted to tractors.
Plough lamps and other work lights should be switched off if there is a danger that they could dazzle other road users.

The type of lights that you should have on a trailer or large implement in order to be seen clearly at all times are:
Rear lights, brake lights, indicators, Number plate also must be lit, rear reflectors
It is advisable that side lights should be fitted to long trailers, Slurry Tanker etc.
Wiring a Trailer
The standard 7 pin plug (known as a 12N) is wired as follows:
1 --- Yellow --- Left Hand Indicator
2 --- Blue ----- Fog Light (Usually unused on farm trailers)
3 --- White ---- Earth
4 --- Green ---- Right Hand Indicator
5 --- Brown ---- Right Hand Tail Light (and Right Side Lights if fitted)
6 --- Red ------ Brake Lights
7 --- Black ---- Right Hand Tail Light (and Left Side Lights if fitted)
Please remember that it is NOT a good idea to fit rear work lights to the blue wire, as it is quite lightly that you would burn out your lighting system, blow fuses and potentially start an vehicle fire if you did.
