Variable Costs

Variable costs are items which are directly associated with a particular enterprise on the farm, for example costs associated with either Milk or Beef production. They are items that are likely to change a lot each year due to variations in stocking levels, weather, animal illness.
Examples of Milk production costs

- Fertiliser for the cows grazing area
- Veterinary costs
- Milking Cow vaccinations & drenches
- Detergents for the parlour
- Cubicle lime and teat dip
- Dry cow treatments.
