Tips for Making Good Quality Hay

Hay should only be saved in good weather conditions, thus avoiding spoiling and the potential for dangerous spores to grow to which could cause Farmers Lung.


It should be turned in the early afternoon to optimise drying rate and should only be baled when fully dry.


Hay should be stored indoors in an are free of vermin and birds that could contaminate it.


There should be no noxious weeds such as Ragworth in the hay.
