In light of the rapid increases in the price of Tractor, Car and other Farm Machinery tyres, more people are considering purchasing second hand tyres.

Consider the following if you are in the market for second hand tyres

1) Tyre rubber degrades with age.

2) Tyres are also degraded by the weather when they are stored outside.

3) Make sure you buy the correct size tyre, with the correct no of plies, correct load capacity etc.

4) Look out for any cuts, bumps, cracks that may be present on a second hand tyre. Some damage will not be apperant until the tyre is inflated and carrying a load.

5) Pay particular attention to the inside surface of the tyre. If this is rough or damaged it may puncture the tube.

6) When working out the cost of the tyre, do not forget to include the cost of fitting the tyres to your wheels.
