Excavations

When excavating for Slatted Tank Construction or the laying of a sewer or Storm Water System, safety should always be paramount.

Over the years, many people have been killed or seriously injured when the side of a trench collapsed, trapping them under soil and rock.

Legally if an excavation is over 1.2m deep (4ft), the sides of the excavation need to be supported with suitable propping, or the edge of the excavation needs to be battered back by an angle of 45 degrees (1:1) or flatter.

If shuttering is being used for the construction of a wall, enough space has to be left outside the proposed wall for the safe installation and removal of the shuttering.
